Leslie and Steve: A Dance, A Kiss, A Lifetime

Leslie’s Perspective:

It all started with my friend Kay Marie, who couldn’t stop talking about me to Steve. One day, he confessed he was falling for me before we even met! When Kay Marie invited me to a party, I eagerly attended, excited to finally meet him. He was even more handsome than I imagined—like a movie star! We talked a lot that night, but I was confused because he was there with his five-year-old son, Robin. Thankfully, Kay Marie later assured me he was single. The next day, I told my friend Julie that I might have met the man I could spend my life with.At another party at Kay Marie’s, we danced and laughed together. Steve shared his worries about his rough childhood, but I was undeterred; we just seemed to fit. It took him six weeks to kiss me, but when he finally did, it was magical.

Steve’s Perspective:

I had been hoping to find someone special, and when Kay Marie talked about Leslie, I felt an instant connection. At the work party, I was captivated by her beauty and sweetness, but I was nervous about my son, Robin, and my past. When I learned Leslie was single, I felt hopeful. At Kay Marie’s house, we danced and joked, and I felt comfortable around her. I finally asked her out on a date to San Francisco, borrowing a car to impress her. Although we didn’t kiss at first, our connection grew stronger.

Blending Families:

As our love blossomed, we faced the challenge of blending our families—Leslie had three teenage boys, and I had Robin. While it was easier than expected for most, Robin took a bit longer to adjust. Despite the challenges, our love was strong and unique. Falling in love with Steve was one of the most beautiful experiences of my life.

Our Journey Together:

We married in 1989, just days after a major earthquake, joking that we were on shaky ground! Our wedding, held at my sister’s house, was filled with family and friends celebrating our love.Now, 37 years later, we’ve shared incredible adventures and cherished memories, supporting each other through everything.
